How do I register an installation with FENSA?
You can register installations through the FENSA Installer Portal.
Steps:
Sign in to the Installer Portal at www.fensaonline.com
Click Register Installation
Agree to the declaration and select Register single installation
Enter the installation details
Click Submit to complete the registration
When should I register an installation?
You should only register an installation once the work is fully complete and compliant with all relevant Building Regulations. Registration must be completed within 21 days of completion.
Do I need to issue an Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG) for Local Authority or Housing Association work?
For installations in properties not privately owned (for example, Local Authority or Housing Association homes):
An IBG is not mandatory, but it must be offered
If the IBG is not taken up, the installation must be registered as a Commercial Build
How do I register an installation as a Commercial Build?
Follow steps 1–3 under How do I register an installation?
When entering the registration details, locate the Commercial Build toggle underneath the Property Postcode field
-
Switch the toggle to Yes
Complete and submit the registration
This tells FENSA that we do not need to seek confirmation from your IBG provider.
I can’t see the Commercial Build toggle – what should I do?
If the Commercial Build toggle does not appear:
Email our Installer Team at installers@fensa.org.uk
Include the percentage of your work carried out on properties that are not privately owned
We can then review and amend your Installer Type if required.
How do I register work completed in multiple flats within one building?
If you have replaced windows and/or doors in multiple flats within the same building:
Each individual flat must be registered separately so that each occupier receives their own FENSA Certificate
How to do this:
Select the Bulk Upload option in the Installer Portal
Download and complete the provided templates
Follow the guidance notes included in the portal
Tip:
If the work was completed for a Housing Association or Local Authority, ensure your Installer Type is correct before submitting registrations.
Are there any buildings I cannot register installations for?
Yes. You cannot register installations where the building is more than 18 metres in height, even if:
The installation was carried out on the ground floor only
Who should I contact if my installer details need updating?
If you believe your Installer Type or details need to be changed and you are unable to action this within the portal, please contact us at installers@fensa.org.uk and we will review your record.
